Come join us in exploring and discussing the world of child and adolescent psychological development and psychotherapy. This dynamic and interactive seminar offers a straight-forward way to develop skills and increase treatment effectiveness with a broad range of diagnoses.

Nurtured Heart Approach Training
Trainer
All continuing education is lead by Elizabeth Sylvester, Ph.D, Licensed Psychologist and Certified Nurtured Heart trainer.
Dr. Sylvester has worked with children, teens, parents and families in the Austin area for 30 years. She is experienced with both inpatient and out-patient work, and has worked in non-profit, hospital, treatment center and private practice settings. She is locally known for the effectiveness of her work using the Nurtured Heart parenting approach. She has extensive experience treating behavior disordered children, ODD, ADHD, adoption, bipolar disorder, depression, anxiety, divorce, and attachment. Over the past 15 years she has built her experience training and supervising child and family therapists. She provides supervision on family and child-psychotherapy to graduate students and pediatric mental health professionals. She is regularly invited by schools, community groups and local agencies to provide training on behavior management and parenting.

- Group discussion of assigned readings relevant to child, adolescent and family psychotherapy.
- Continued case consultation, discussion and practical application of readings.
- Practice building

- Building a Professional Will (3 ethics CEUs)
- Working with ADHD from a strengths focused perspective
- Attachment patterns and their impact on therapeutic work
- Substance Abuse and Teens
- Building Emotion Regulation Skills for Kids and Teens
- Therapeutic Parenting
Details:
- Meetings are the 1st Friday mornings, 8:30 a.m. to 10:0 am, September through May; a second group meets the 2nd Friday mornings, 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 am, September through May
- Tuition: $75.00 a month for nine months of meetings
- CEU’s provided
Consultation
Individual training and consultation is available to licensed therapists on a case by case basis.
Nurtured Heart Approach Training
- The Nurtured Heart Approach training is available on request, both through individual consultation and group trainings.
- A bi-monthly support group is available for Certified and Advanced Nurtured Heart therapists to maintain and build skills in this model.
- As of September 2019 a monthly supervision and training group is available for psychotherapists using NHA in their clinical work.
