The Nurtured Heart Approach ®
The Nurtured Heart Approach is a method of interacting with children that allows us to choose how many times a day we celebrate a child's unique gifts AND what type of celebration we will have. Will we have 30 exclamations of joy with playfulness, with laughs and energetic appreciations that last a few moments each? Or will we have 30 arguments that last as long as we can tolerate the frustration?
This model was designed for and is particularly effective with children who are highly emotionally intense, willful and persistent, and/or very physically active. It is beneficial for increasing a child's self-control, self-esteem and self-confidence.
NHA helps us to identify and set clear boundaries while encouraging us to focus on the behaviors, values, and characteristics that we want to see our child carry into the world beyond the reach of our parenting influence.
Austin Child Therapy is home to Austin's Certified and Advanced Nurtured Heart Approach Trainers. These trainers offer parenting guidance on an individual and group basis, and NHA training focused on preparing teachers and coaches to use NHA in their work.
